This case based lecture for veterinarians will review surgical procedures typically performed in the small animal practices and some of the expected, and unexpected, problems that can occur which might reduce successful outcomes for your patients.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound: Basics & Pro Tips
presented by Samuel Dicker, DVM, DACVECC 


The lecture will cover basics of point-of-care ultrasonography, essential to any modern-day small animal general practitioner and ER doctor, as well as pro tips for success. Topics will include abdominal FAST and thoracic FAST scans, as well as lung ultrasound to identify pulmonary edema and pneumothorax. Focus will be on clinically relevant findings, and will include a case to work through at the end of the lecture.

Respiratory Distress: Don't Forget to Breathe

This lecture will focus on the various anatomic areas and causes of respiratory distress. Focus will be on normal physiology, pathophysiology, and practical treatment. Helpful tips and tricks will be discussed to minimize patient stress, and to improve technician readiness and ability to deal with fragile, critical respiratory distress patients. The end of the lecture will provide case examples.
